# Net Asset Value

## Overview

The net asset value (NAV) per share of an investment trust or fund in U.S. dollars. The metric name is prefixed by the ticker symbol of the investment product (e.g. `gbtc_net_asset_value` for Grayscale's Bitcoin Investment Trust). NAV per share represents the fair value of the underlying assets held by the product divided by the number of shares outstanding.

## Data Sources and Methodology

Net asset value per share is calculated daily at 4 PM ET, based on reference price data from CoinDesk or equivalent pricing sources as specified in each product's governing documents.
